Heat the oven to 190°C / 375°F. Lightly grease a medium baking dish so the slices lift cleanly later.
Set a skillet over medium heat. Sauté the onion until softened, then add sausage and ground beef. Cook, breaking it up, until browned and most moisture is gone.
Stir in tomato paste and garlic and cook for 1–2 minutes so it mellows. Add parsley, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper, then simmer briefly until the sauce looks cohesive.
In a bowl, mix cottage cheese, egg, Parmesan, and milk until smooth. You want it pourable; thin with a splash more milk if needed.
Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in the baking dish. Spoon over some cheese mixture and sprinkle mozzarella. Repeat the layers until used up, finishing with mozzarella on top.
Scatter sesame seeds over the top. Bake about 30 minutes, until bubbly and lightly browned. If it browns too fast, tent loosely with foil.
Let it sit for 10 minutes so it sets up a bit. Slice and serve warm.
