Add the water and sugar to a small saucepan. Warm over medium heat, stirring until the sugar fully dissolves; remove from heat just before it boils.
Pour the syrup into a heat-safe container and let it cool to room temperature. Refrigerate until cold so your lemonade stays crisp, not watered down.
Roll the lemons on the counter to release more juice, then squeeze. Strain if you prefer a smoother drink.
In a large pitcher, mix the cold syrup with the lemon juice. Taste and adjust with a splash of cold water if you want it lighter.
Fill glasses with ice. Pour in the lemonade, then finish with a mint sprig and a lemon slice. Serve right away or keep chilled until needed.
