Add the instant coffee to a pitcher. Pour in 1/4 cup hot water and stir until fully dissolved.
Stir in the sugar until it melts into the coffee. For a lighter option, reduce the sugar or use the sweetener instead.
Let the mixture cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for 5–10 minutes to chill quickly.
Pour in the cold milk and mix again so the flavor is evenly distributed.
Fill glasses with plenty of ice. Pour the iced coffee over and give it a quick stir before serving.
